Families First North West Awards

17th Oct 2022

At St Theresa’s we were proud to say we were a finalist at the Families First North West Awards on the 22nd October and it was a lovely night to share the success of the school.

We were recognised as a finalist for our wonderful efforts during Lockdown to provide a strong online curriculum during the period of remote learning, as well as the togetherness we show in the community.

When looking back Lockdown was very challenging for all but we were very proud of how we shone as a school. Some of the ways we stood out were as follows:

  • Our use of Seesaw, Teams and other ICT tools such as Daily Tutorial Videos, voice overs, and powerpoints to help with teaching and learning.
  • The availability of staff who were always there to help.
  • Celebrating children’s achievements on Facebook, Twitter and our school website.
  • Being appreciative of our families for their hard work.
  • Live Class meetups, Live lessons and Live assemblies.
  • Trying to bring fun to children’s learning during such difficult circumstances.
  • Always thinking of our children and their pupil well being.
  • Creating a variety of innovative ways to inspire our pupils with the help of outside tutors such as Gloria Perry of Urney Creations Art, Relax Kids Edel County Tyrone, Emotional Literacy Workshops with Michelle Young and Ink Wing Academy, Play therapy resources by Louise Little Mess Tyrone, Get Up and Dance with Carmel Garvey and Musical Sing Songs with Miss Una.

The list was endless and let us not forget how our excellent staff also went the extra mile!

As always we are grateful for your kind words and encouragement and this was clearly recognised in the comments you left as judges. Here is a flavour of those comments and we thank you considerably for how you regard our wee school in the Glebe:
